:new: An update to my favorite games list, shook up the order of many games, and there are many new ones added to the list! Naturally they are my favorites, not exactly games that I think are the best games ever made, and even though I had to kick out a handful of games that were on the previous list I still love them, and were it a top 30 or 50 they would certainly be there. Also shout out to Persona 5 / Metal Gear Solid 3 / Puzzle Quest, you almost made it here, man! :V

25. Xenoblade Chronicles
One of the newer RPGs, I was preeeeetty close to put the X sequel here instead because that game is almost, maybe just as good, but this game is a more focused experience and the story hits harder so it stays on the list (but giant robots almost made it lose its spot lol). Also now I've played a bit of the 3DS version aaaand it doesn't look as good as on the Wii, but it's still pretty impressive this huge game is on the portable.

24. Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
Yyyyeeaaah it's not the super famous Castlevania games, like Symphony of the Night or Super Castlevania IV, which I played and are awesome, but this one is one of the first I've played (I played the N64 ones first but... they are not great), and I see it kinda like a "best of" of the series, and it's colorful, has varied stages, two choices of characters and tons of ways to play with a warrior which wields many kinds of weapons and a super versatile magic user, secret characters, and the best of all, you jump into pictures like a certain famous game also on this list lol

23. Pokémon Black & White
I was really between Black & White and HeartGold & SoulSilver for the pokémon spot, but I still like the region, pokémon and story in generation 5 better than generation 2 so yeah, these are my faves. I really like Unova's more urban setting and the BALLS to have only new pokémon in the main game (well the game isn't new anymore but you get the point). Still, if you dig the little critters you can't go wrong with any of these options!

22. Kirby: Planet Robobot

Blood was spilt in choosing between the first Kirby I played and the latest, but at least at this point Planet Robobot is my favorite Kirby game. I thought the robot idea would be super fun, but I had no idea going in: turning into a plane, a car, waddle dees driving cars, waddle dees playing Kirby's Adventure, the robot factory music from Kirby 64, and don't even get e started on the last boss; this game is Kirby fanservice at its finest! But I still love you, Kirby's Adventure.

21. The Last of Us
You can probably tell by this list I'm not huge on more modern games, but if there's one that can advocate in their favor it has to be The Last of Us. This highly cinematic experience pokes me just right in my zombie movie soft spot, and it has flawless polish to back it up, with fascinating world and characters! I know it sounds like I'm trying to sell it but I'm not lol

20. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
In all honesty, all Monster Hunter games are pretty similar, I'd say you're good with any one you pick, but I picked this one in particular because I spent the most time with the generation III games, Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii in particular, but this semi-sequel is in HD which makes it look glorious and (as far as I know) the online is still up, and online is a big part on these games. But 4 Ultiamte is also pretty good, and series in coming to Switch, so the hunt lives on!

19. Mega Man 3
Another Capcom number 3 game... Mega Man doesn't get a love of love these days, but if you're up for a challenge these games are fun! Lots of people love number 2, but I like 3 better, mostly because it was the only one i managed to finish when i was younger lol. I recently finished it in the Legacy Collection, probably one of the best ways to go about it (as the controls are kinda weird in the older Anniversary Collection).

18. Skies of Arcadia Legends
A shame this forgotten RPG never got very popular, because... SKY. PIRATES. It's a pretty traditional rpg, but it also has airship battles and fun world to explore made of several flying islands very unique from each other... and who knows, it might've even been the inspiration to a certain city in a certain group... *WINK WINK* On the pic the gamecube version I played, not sure what the game plays like in Dreamcast original, shouldn't be too different. While I believe it's not an easy game to find, it can probably be emulated easily (but don't tell I said that!)

17. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Good old Majora's Mask, this game barely needs any introduction, I dropped it quite a few positions from last time, because I don't really like the dungeons of this game except maybe the desert one, it's not very beginner friendly and you need to play quite a stretch of it to make any real progress, but it's still iconic and the best thing about it is the ominous sense of impeding doom with the moon falling down to crush everything, worth to play for that reason alone! The pic shows the 3DS remake, that's probably the easiest physical version to find, and it also has some extras, definitely one of the best ways to play this game (but they messed the swimming).

16. Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii: Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2
The good old rhythm game for Nintendo DS, you touch the little balls that appear in the order to the rhythm of some fun J-Pop songs! As your characters cheer for the troubled people, it's up to your rhythm skills to boost their morale so they can overcome their life hardships, like... writing a romance... or ice skating... or help a cellphone signal to reach the girl's phone...? Did I say this game is japanese?

15. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Mario RPGs are, in my opinion, among the most engrossing Mario games out there; having finally finished Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and a second time Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, which are both great, but for my money Thousand-Year Door is da bomb!
With its fun battle system, graphics that still look great and unique settings for the episodes, it is such an epic little adventure! And you can even check on what adventures Luigi has been having as well... they sound pretty wild...

14. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
The story of two brothers that lost their mother and now their father is sick, they must get some magic thingy from a tree to save their old man! In this adventure you control both brothers at the same time, each with one of the analog sticks of your controller, which leads to some really neat gameplay and puzzle moments and a touching story! It's not a super famous game, but play it if you can!

13. Resident Evil 4
This game is CHEESY as hell and I love every minute of it! This game is lightning in a bottle (though recently Resident 7 is pretty good too, but not AS good in my opinion), the story itself is not that great, but gameplay is fun, game throws you at some crazy and fun situations, characters are pretty likable and there's gross monsters everywhere. Also it's available pretty much everywhere now!

12. Animal Crossing: New Leaf
I love this game more than I should, being over 3 years it came out and I still play it now and then... yeah on paper planting flowers, rearranging furniture, fishing and catching bugs doesn't sound that great, but trust me the sum of the parts add up here! Also, Little PokéCity still propers, and we just got a nice Zen Bell, right next to Papshmina's house. I don't like her.

11. Bloodborne
It took a while until I finally got into the Souls series, but to my surprise my favorite wasn't the one everyone says is the best (Dark Souls) or the newest (Dark Souls III) but Bloodborne, the horror one. This game is fast-paced and batshit crazy, and I love all of it. It is also the only playstation game I've ever bothered to Platinum (outside some easy Lego games), so that must say something to how much I like it since I barely dedicate this much to a game nowadays...

10. Final Fantasy VI
THE BEST FINAL FANTASY GAME is still pretty great to me, and now I even got a copy of it! The story is engaging with lots of unique moments and characters, a fun and quick battle system (not as quick on the playstation but still), the Joker of final fantasy and much more! It kinda has the class system like the older games (except every character is a different class) and it still has something akin to the Materia/GF systems in later games in the form of Espers you equip your party members with, granting different magic and boosts when leveling up. Fun stuff, and it also has Ultros. On the pic, FF Anthologies has both Final Fantasies V and VI.

9. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
My game of the year, EASY (especially now that Red Dead Redemption 2 was delayed), this game would easily be at the top of the list if they didn't mess the dungeons and the ending. But this game is all about the journey and boy it is a fun one, I had a blast exploring this world, and people always talk about the game's difficulty (at the beginning) and climbing everywhere as things that make this game unique, but I think the best feature in this game is the effort the team put in making it feel like a cohesive world; wind, fire, snow and other elements interact with the characters and items in ways that make sense and provokes experimentation; fire swords you carry help you stand the cold, materials you get from monsters can freeze if you are in snowy areas, you can use metal weapons to solve puzzles involving electricity, and all kinds of crazy details, definitely worth buying a system for (in my opinion).

8. Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Yyyyeaaahhh kinda cheating cause Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles can be seen as their own games, but I'd say together they make the most epic Sonic game ever made! Kick-ass music, colorful 3D graphics, 3 characters to play as with stages having many different routes, that super tense bonus game to get emeralds, and it was one of the first Sonic games with saves (big deal back then), this game pushes all my platforming buttons! On the pic there's one of the Sonic collections I have, cause I don't have the actual cartridge but there's plenty of collections out there you can play this on.

7. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
It always saddens me the only way you can play this fantastic lovecraftian horror game is to have a Gamecube because it's so unique and more people should've experienced it. You play as this woman that inherited a mansion and through exploring it you find pages of the namesake tome, and relive the experiences of other people who came across the tome in a battle against an ancient evil. This game has it all: melee combat, guns, magic, and as your characters come across creepy stuff their sanity goes down, making them see things that are not really there... crazy kickass game.

6. Super Mario 64
Yes, many of the later Mario platformers are more polished and prettier, but Mario 64 brings me all the nostalgia and pretty much dictated how mascot game would happen in 3D. First time I played it was at a demo in a store and I had only seen 2D platformers until then, and my young dinosaur mind was BLOWN when i moved Mario in 3D, it felt so natural. When i finally got it, took me a whole month to get the 120 stars back then and it felt super satisfying to figure it all on my own. I don't have my copy anymore, only the DS remake, which is decent, worst offender being that the control schemes aren't really analog which sucks and most of the extra 30 stars really feel like filler.

5. Chrono Trigger
Everyone knows traveling through time kicks ass :V And Squaresoft banked on that to create the epicness that is Chrono Trigger, where you travel in time to prevent Lavos from destroying it. Colorful characters! Dynamic combat! Dual and triple techs! Iconic game! This game is almost fairy-tale like, a shame Chrono Cross killed the series jk we love you Chrono Cross. I got the DS version, which is all the cutscenes without the lame loading times! That new dungeon is still a piece of...

4. Metroid Prime
I admit I'm not great at these metroid games, having never finished Super Metroid or Fusion, but I think the Prime Trilogy is pretty kick-ass and the first one is one of my favorite games of all time; I think it has a really tight design that mix first person action with classic metroid exploration, a deep lore that is not thrown down your throat, great graphics that hold up well and even creepy moments at times! My copy has this weird Target seal printed on it which is weird cause we don't really have Targets around here lol game is also on the Wii in the Trilogy package with motion controls, which is good too but I like traditional controllers lol

3. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
The definitive Smash Bros games, with characters from many of the games mentioned above like Mega Man, Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Final Fantasy, Sonic and so much more, it's pretty, it's packed with stages and characters, different game modes, fan service, and don't even get me started on the music, it's the best or at least one of the best soundtracks with lots of variety and series represented. And most importantly, it's such fun multiplayer!

2. Super Mario Bros. 3
The first videogame I've ever played and also that I've ever finished, I remember leaving the NES on all night since it didn't had a save system at all so I could finish on the next day. It's long, it's complex, it's creative, it's epic, it even had its own movie! I also got the 16 bit remake of this on the Wii and Game Boy Advance, but still have to play my way through these with newer graphics, but I'm sure they are pretty good too. Many people prefer Super Mario World and I can see why, but for me number 3 will always be the quintessential Mario game.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The hype for this game back then was unreal and when it released, no one had seen anything like it. It even had TV ads here in Brazil, and we never get those! Sure, it's not a creative choice, and there are technically better games out there, but my experience playing it when younger by myself, the novelties in gameplay at the time, the enchanting world and characters, tight world and dungeon design (I still think it has the best collection of dungeons, at least of the 3D games), iconic music, I can't give this enough praise. I show here the 3D remake, probably the ultimate version of the game, but I'd say emulations (like on Gamecube and Wii and Wii U) are definitely very playable too.

Those were my Top 25 games! The meme was made by :iconzombidj: (I modified it lol) ! You can find it here: darkjak.deviantart.com/art/Top…

The games belongs to the people that made them :V (well the hard copies in the pic are mine I guess lol)

Oh man, I just finished Thousand Year Door recently, it's super amazing!
Goombella's so cute, I think she's my favorite.
